This book of “Basic Clinical Neuroscience” provides a clear and readable introduction to the central concepts of clinical neuroscience. The book deals with fundamental areas of neuroscience required for a sound understanding of brain disease. This is followed by an account of the neurobiology of the most common and important brain diseases of the western world (stroke, epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis). It offers medical and other health professions students a clinically oriented description of human neuroanatomy and neurophysiology. This provides the anatomic and pathophysiologic basis for understanding neurologic abnormalities through concise descriptions of functional systems with an emphasis on medically important structures and clinically important pathways. It emphasizes the localization of specific anatomic structures and pathways with neurological deficits.
